Brunch at The Breakfast Club in Angel, also known as that time I remembered to take pictures of the food before eating it. I'm sure it won't happen again.
A warning to the hungry ones: this post is full of pictures of food that looks delicious. Continue at your own risk.

It took me too long to realise that the Botanical Gardens are more than just their greenhouse, which hosts the butterfly exhibition every Winter. Although I managed to go there in a warm and sunny day in September, the poor excuse we had for a Summer meant the blooming season was long gone already. Of course that didn't stop me from walking around the entirety of the garden in heels (it was a spontaneous decision made in fear that it would be the last sunny and warm day until next May - it wasn't), imagining how pretty it should be in full bloom, or all golden in Autumn.

We booked 6 days in Nice for late August, after rightfully guessing that the odds of us ever going to the beach in Portugal were very low, to replenish our sunshine intake before the German winter. What we didn't expect was BF getting a bit sick just before the holidays and that we wouldn't be able to just sit at the beach all day and do nothing, so instead we took advantage of being able to go to any town around Nice for 1.5€ by bus and visited Èze, St. Paul de Vence and Cannes.

Since finding free time for editing/sorting/uploading photos of our holidays in Nice seems to be harder than I thought, here are some snapshopts of the main goal of my holidays this summer: eat great food while I can. Especially fresh fish and sea food. I apologise for the low quality, but I was lucky I even remembered to take a photo before/after eating...
No idea what this was when I ordered it, turned out to be delicious. // Crêpe with ice cream at Häagen-Dazs. Or why I’ll never be a food blogger.
When in doubt, have mussels. I was in doubt often. // Boiled barnacles. Yum.

The summer I was looking for had more sunny and warm days where all you want to do is to jump in the nearest pool of water and have to stay in the shade all the time, than rainy, cold days with no sunshine in sight. It's not over yet, tho, I'm still hopeful, and it wasn't all bad. I did manage to dive in the sea (for 2 minutes or so...), eat maize from the little place above ("VENDEM-SE MAÇAROCAS"), lots of fish and other sea food, try the wine in the wine museum below, watch a sunset from the plane, and finally make it to the Japanese tea house in the Englischergarten on a weekend it was open.

Sorry for another one of these, I haven't been taking proper photos of anything lately, or even bother to edit the ones I do. I did however go to Salzburg again, where I accidentally ordered a long coffee instead of an expresso, and was very pleasantly surprised taste-wise (top left photo); on another day to Staffelsee, not so pleasant, I don't seem to be a fan of swimming in lakes so far, but there's a beautiful town next to it called Murnau, where they have delicious ice cream and amazing looking shops and I'll have to go back there when it's not a Sunday (no photo).
I also went on a quest to find good ice cream next to me for those days when it'd be really nice to have ice cream but not so nice to get in the U-Bahn, and I did find one, along with that stunning red tree (top right photo).
I thought maybe I'd start wearing flats more often and take better care of my proto bunion if I have more than one pair of flats, and if they're not boring looking, so I got the ones in the bottom left photo.
I still can't say two coherent more complicated sentences in German, but it seems to be enough to communicate with people anyway, I found out my florist is a neighbour from Tunisia, and he gave me some extra flowers this day (bottom right photo). The stems were super short (I suppose they were leftovers from some arrangement) and it was easier to carry them in my bag than my hand, is this why other bloggers do it? (And I could also "talk" to the lovely lady in my building when I lock myself out of the house with no semester ticket and no phone and have to go meet BF somewhere else to get his keys...)

Finally found my perfect foundation and got the cutest tiny sample products too // Pastel day, I promise the expresso cup is only accidentally matching my t-shirt
Bf brought gifs from London, a pretty scarf and an awesome fridge magnet // Tiny pines!

Some photos of this week's flowers, which form a beautiful cloud of tiny white and pink dots, and of bf's unbirthday picnic with tons of cakes, ginger lemonade (must get that recipe) and elderflower cordial, that I've successfully mixed with every drink and it tastes great. I was wrong about only using half the sugar tho, the citric acid is really bitter!

Have you ever tried any elderflower (holunderblüte) drink? What about the homemade elderflower cordial? If not, you're missing out. I first tried it a couple of years ago when a friend made it in London, and I've been making it every year I can find the flowers since. It's really, really good, and so easy to make, let me show you.

We left Monet's gardens around lunch time and used the little booklet they had on the bus to find a place for lunch. After that first week in Paris we completely trust there will always be a nice place with a very affordable lunch menu and great food anywhere in France. Since all the recomended places were within walking distance we picked one that said it was by the water, La Guinguette.

Does this look like something out of an impressionist painting to you (minus the tourists)? If yes, you're onto something. These are Monet's Water Gardens at Giverny, that he made while living there, along with his flower garden.
22 May 2014
The plan for this weekend was to arrive Friday night in Paris, wake up early Saturday morning, take the train to Giverny, see the gardens, spend the rest of the day in Vernon, and then make something up for Sunday. As do all plans, this one failed, mostly due to our ride from the airport not showing up and us ending up getting to the hotel hours late with no time to sleep. We thought we could just take a later train, but later meant much, much later, apparently trains don't go there very often, no idea why. So, instead, we went to Versailles, which was supposed to also have a nice garden and the trains go every 15min - if you ever go there, by the way, there's also a daily ticket to all of the Parisian transportation system for only 8€ if you're under 25, on weekends and holidays, which is almost the same price as the ticket for Versailles gardens.

I bought this pendant in Lisbon, I think a year ago, in a small and lovely crafts supply shop we found while random walking from Martim Moniz to Rossio, I can't remember exactly where. I never figured out how to use it, when I bought it I wanted to get a metal collar necklace for it, but never found one that fit right.
Then yesterday, I looked at it, looked at the Sutton, and this happened. I'm sure that if you go through your own necklaces you'll find a gorgeous combination like this just waiting to be noticed.
I do have one other plan for it, but it will take a tremendous amount of patience. Maybe in April.

I refuse to install instagram on my android phone until I can update it to v4.3 and disable some of the permissions (GPS access, my contacts, phone identity...).
But yesterday I realised I don't really need to use instagram, I can use snapseed+resizer+tumblr. So I created instagblr (using no vowels seems to be fashionable in today's image sharing sites, so why not). I will be posting my

|Taken before a terrible party where I met very nice people.|
Stella & Dot accessories / sold out Mango top / lots of bobby pins / 50mm f/1.8
Mango managed to take over a week to process my online order, making me go try to find the things at sale mayhem in the physical shops in fear of receiving an email saying my items are no longer available, again, and ending up finding the open back top that was sold out online. Speaking of which, there's a serious lack of open back things that don't also have a huge cleavage out there.
And I'm very sorry about the terrible light. I don't often find parties during daylight in the Winter, and bf doesn't think having studio lights and reflectors at home is important. But mostly I didn't remember I have a tripod.
